Calm Mind. Vibrant body. resonant heart.

In this work, I am not the Healer.

You are.

When provided with the right conditions, our bodies have an innate ability to heal and restore equanimity within the various energetic and biological systems.

The problem is that the majority of us don’t get enough sleep, experience chronic stress and are so busy thinking, doing and going that we rarely allow our bodies the time to drop into relaxation… the place where we rest, repair and digest.

In fact, it has been found that 75-90% of visits to the doctor are for stress related ailments and complaints.

What I offer is a safe environment and practices to facilitate relaxation, rest, stress reduction and the rebalancing of your nervous system.

When we do that, YOU will heal yourself!

Hi, I’m Nina Smock.

Thank you for being here!

Since you are here, I am guessing you would like to know a bit about me!

First and foremost I am a mom of two beautiful daughters and two fur babies. I grew up on the West Coast, but have come to love the Midwest and call Decorah home.

I am a certified Wisdom Flow Yoga Teacher and Integral Sound Healing Practitioner, and am honored to help people connect more fully with their bodies, emotions, minds and “inner note” through the practices taught within these lineages.

My greatest joy is seeing people overcome challenge and live fully. That might look like overcoming a fear of water and getting to experience the incredible aquatic world beneath the surface. It could be peacefully floating in a sea of sound and vibration and finding relief from chronic stress. Maybe it is an injured shoulder healing so that a beloved child can be picked up. Or it could be releasing an old story of inadequacy and discovering you are INDEED capable!

Together, we will quiet and calm the mind and nervous system. Once in a regulated state, we can begin to identify the limiting postures/thoughts/behaviors that no longer serve you, and then gently shift them by engaging in practices that empower you to realign with your innate wholeness, resilience, capacity, and peace.

I look forward to meeting you!

Integral Sound Healing

Integral sound healing facilitation is one of the most simple and effective tools I have to offer you.

The tones and overtones of these instruments have a calming and harmonizing effect on the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual layers of our being.

Their frequencies entrain the brain from our normal, busy, beta brainwave state to the slower alpha/theta brainwave states, and also balance the left and right hemispheres of the brain. Our minds quiet and calm.

By allowing these sounds and vibrations to wash over and through us, we experience deep relaxation and the parasympathetic nervous system is activated. Our bodies move into rest and repair.

The awesome thing is, while science is starting to be able to explain this in the language of biochemistry, physiology, neurology, and measurable variables, we can experience it for ourselves. Most people notice the effects after just one session.

In a personalized sound session, I will play overtone instruments on and around your body. Often people lie on a massage table, but you could also sit in a chair. You do not have to undress, yet you are able to feel the gentle vibrations of the instruments and drift peacefully in the relaxing sounds.

Wisdom Flow Yoga

(Yes, those are chickens practicing with me!)

In this practice, we aim for both precision and playfulness!

The Wisdom Flow style blends physical and mental alignment with the free and natural flow of spirit.

Aligned structure creates strength and stability, yet too rigid of a focus on alignment can pinch off the organic flow of joyful growth. And the flip side is true as well… expansive energy without clear channels to flow will either dissipate or stagnate, rather than create. Yoga is the union of seemingly opposites, the realization that it is not this OR that, it is this AND that.

Wisdom Flow Yoga embodies this balance by offering an elegant set of alignment principles based upon the sacred geometry of the human body. These principles are then playfully explored within a dynamic flow that keeps the channels clean, clear and strong, and the song of the heart coming through. We learn to ride the breath as the vehicle of awareness as we reveal and share deeper layers of our true nature.

At the heart of this practice is the desire to know ourselves more deeply, and “live our note” more fully and freely.

acknowledgement

As a white woman of European decent living on the land now know as Decorah, Iowa, I benefit from the ongoing harms of colonization and the displacement of the oθaakiiwaki‧hina‧ki (Sauk) & Meškwahki·aša·hina (Fox), Očhéthi Šakówiŋ, and Wahpeton Peoples.

I also acknowledge that I am benefiting from the practices, wisdom traditions, and instruments that originated with the Peoples of the Himalayan and Indian regions, and that these people too have been greatly harmed by my ancestral lineage.

In addition, the Earth, our fellow creatures and ecosystems continue to be harmed by the ways in which dominant western culture operates, of which I am a participant.

I also want to share how grateful and humbled I am for the honor to live here on this land, and to have access to the instruments and practices that have changed my life for the better. I pray that I may never take these gifts for granted and that I may always remember to be a humble steward and share what I have in order that all may thrive.

I pledge to give 3% of all I make to the following three organizations, 1% each, annually. These three organizations have special significance to me because of personal relationships I have with heart-led people working within them. If you feel moved to contribute to them, know that your funds will be greatly appreciated and used well.

I encourage each of you to learn more about your privileges, as well as the people, land and wisdom traditions that have been, and continue to be harmed while we benefit. If you have time and resources, please consider researching and donating to organizations whose work you resonate with.
